Call Centre Collective

What is Call Centre Collective?

Supported by the STUC and trade unions, Call Centre Collective is a network of workers employed in call centres in Scotland who are interested in working together to achieve lasting change in our workplaces.

Where did this come from?

The group emerged in response to research carried out by Prof Phil Taylor from Strathclyde University which exposed the dangerously inadequate response to Covid-19 in many call centres. The report has a series of recommendations but call centre workers are going to have to work together if we want to see them acted on and for all employers to meet their responsibilities.

What are our aims?

In the first instance, employers need to ensure that the safety of their workforce is paramount particularly with regards to Covid-19.

We want the government to implement the recommendations from Phil Taylor’s report, and we want to equip other call centre workers with the skills and knowledge they need to keep themselves and their colleagues safe.

In the long term, we want to build on this and see the conditions of call centre workers improve in other respects- such as pay, stress, bullying, and hours.

What can I do?

If you work in a call centre in Scotland follow this account let your colleagues know about the campaign. We’ll have a load of activity coming up over the next few weeks and the first thing we need to be able to get the word out.

If you’re interested in helping to organise anything or find out more information please message us.
